Fractions

We have begun a unit on fraction and decimals.  We are learning how to compare and order fractions.

 Our big questions are:
         What is a fraction?
What do different fractions look like?
How do we know what the size of a fraction is?
         How do we compare fractions?
How do we find equivalent fractions?

We have begun our journey with 2 practical lessons where we have explored fractions in different ways.  We have made fractions using numicon, and cuisenaire rods,  and have looked comparing fractions using dominoes.  We have also explored placing different fractions on the number line.

By experiencing and talking about fractions we are able to self-assessing and reflect on what we think a fraction is, and share our understandings and misconceptions with others.

Take a look at some of the activities we have been doing.
