Exposition texts

This week in literacy we have been learning about the structure and language features of an exposition text.   We have been experiencing lots of different arguments, and how we can think of 3 arguments to persuade the reader to agree.   We have also been learning about persuasive devices such as rhetorical questions,  exaggeration, facts, emotive language and modal verbs.

Today we put all that together and started writing persuasive paragraphs.  We did a fantastic job, and really excel at formulating arguments.  Take a look at some of our paragraphs.

Firstly, recycling paper saves our beautiful rainforests, that alot of animals call home.  Paper is a valuable material that many people use, but it comes from our trees that helps us breathe.  If we don't recycle paper all our trees will be chopped down, and we will all die out.

Firstly, recycling paper saves the rainforest.  Rainforests are the lungs of the earth, and they give us fresh air.  If we don't recycle, we will have to chop more trees down.

Furthermore, plastics are dangerous to animals.  Did you know that turtles think that plastic bags are jellyfish and try to eat them. They always end up dying.  Thousands of birds a year, get plastic struck in their throats while they are diving for fish.
