Counting past 0 in Miss Joh's math class

This week we explored the concept of counting past zero, and going into negative numbers.  For many of us this was a new concept, although we all quickly showed our new skill at being able to count backwards and forwards past zero.   We learnt this concept through calculating temperature, and the idea of a 'hotel', whereby the basement car- parks are the negative numbers, the lobby is 0, and the hotel rooms the 'positive numbers'.  We extended our learning with exploring speadsheets and keeping a record of debit and credit.
